Joseph P Cirone > MIAMI, FL (June 11, 2005) Coast Guard Operations Center Miami Search and Rescue Controllers, Lieutenant Luis Gutierrez (l) and Petty Officer 2nd Class James Foster (r), utilize a nautical chart to review search areas and patterns used during the Extractor case, which resulted in the saving of two lives after an 18-hour search. The pair spent nearly 30 hours in storm tossed seas which caused their boat to capsize. Joseph P Cirone > WASHINGTON, DC (May 28, 2005) Crewmembers aboard Coast Guard-owned,  Auxiliary-operated Vessel 279517 wave hello to the passing Auxiliary Vessel 24999 (from which this photo was taken), during the Dragon Boat Races in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC. The races were held on the Potomac River, during the first day of the 2005 Memorial Day Weekend. Later in the day, both vessels, along with Auxiliary Vessel 33587 and their crews helped rescue 47 people who were thrown from a large number of capsized boats, as a result of high wind gusts.
